Scrivener three off lead in Valderrama

Jason Scrivener carded a 68 on the second day of the Andalucia Masters at Valderrama to move within three shots of the lead.

Romain Langasque heads the field, the Frenchman returning back-to-back rounds of 69 to lead on four-under-par after 36 holes.

One shot behind are Matthew Fitzpatrick, making an encouraging return after a pointless Ryder Cup, fellow Englishman Laurie Canter, who shot 65, Matthew Fox of New Zealand and Sweden’s Sebastian Soderberg.

Min Woo Lee, of Australia, carded 71 to be two-over, six shots adrift,

Langasque birdied the first and bogeyed the ninth before a long putt from off the green at the 17th brought him an eagle.

World No.1 Jon Rahm, of Spain, had left himself a mountain to climb with an opening 78 and he followed it with a 74 to miss the cut by five shots at 10 over. Australia’s Scott Hend suffered the the same fate with matching scores.
