Baby born in Brazil with incredibly rare human ‘tail’ nearly the same length as his LEG

A baby in Brazil has been born with a very rare ‘true’ human tail.

The ‘true’ human tail measured in at 12cm in length and had a 4cm ball shaped mass attached to the end of it.

The embryonic tail, which all babies develop between four to eight weeks after gestation, grows within the womb and is usually reabsorbed back into the body.

But in this rare case, doctors discovered the tail after the baby was born prematurely at 35 weeks.

The newborn was referred for specialist evaluation where scans revealed no danger was present.

Incredible pictures of the tail were published in a medical journal which detailed the boy’s surgery after they successfully removed the appendage.

Doctors then conducted an intricate surgery procedure to remove the tail and mass.

Incredible pictures of the tail were then published in a medical journal which detailed the boy’s surgery after they successfully removed the appendage.

A post-surgery analysis of the tail found it was comprised of boneless tissue with the ball on the end being made of fat and embryonic connective tissue.
