Three dead in separate Melbourne incidents

Three people are dead and another two, including a girl, are fighting for life after separate incidents in Melbourne overnight.

A child, woman and man were found with critical injuries at a home in Mill Park, in Melbourne’s outer northeast, on Thursday evening after reports of a stabbing.

The woman died at the scene, while the man was taken to hospital under police guard. The girl was also taken to hospital in critical condition.

Just over an hour later, two people were found at a Mordialloc address with critical injuries and later died after gunshots were heard.

Officers searched the area, in Melbourne’s outer southeast, and arrested a man a short time later. They are not looking for anyone else over the apparent shooting.

Homicide detectives are investigating both incidents.
