Helicopters, mounted police and the SES have been searching for the canine but have not yet been able to find him.

PD Quizz is described as having a black and tan hide and is was wearing a black harness with a long tracking lead when he disappeared.

“There has been sightings and we encourage any members of the public who may see him to call police,” Queensland Police Service Inspector Mick Thiesfield told Sunrise.

If you’ve got a mobile phone, take a picture of him, don’t approach him, and we’ll send police down

Inspector Thiesfield said Quizz’s handler has been “involved in the search” for his furry friend.

“We’ve had to send him home to bed a few times as you’d understand.”
