Jackson, one of three men charged in the robbery and shooting of the pop star’s dog walker Ryan Fischer in February 2021, was accidentally freed after a court appearance.

The case was dismissed and a replacement criminal case should have been filed, but the records were not updated straight away and the man was immediately released, officials said.

The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department and Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office did not return comment when contacted by NBC.

Jackson is charged with attempted murder, second-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.

He has also been also charged with one count each of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle.

Fischer was walking Lady Gaga’s French bulldogs in Hollywood around 9.30pm on February 24 last year when he was shot and wounded.

Three men, including Jackson, are accused of stealing two of the three dogs.

The District Attorney’s office said Fischer was shot in a struggle during the robbery.

Lady Gaga then offered a $500,000 reward for the retrieval of her dogs, which were later returned.

Police said the dogs were not targeted because the thieves knew they belonged to Lady Gaga, but because French bulldogs can command high prices when offered for sale.

Fischer survived the shooting – and later posted an emotional message to Instagram from his hospital bed, saying he had had a “close call with death.”

“The gratitude for all the love I feel from around this planet is immense and intense,” he wrote.

“First responders and health care workers: you literally saved my life and helped me take newborn walks.

“I can’t thank you enough.”

He described the moment he was shot in graphic detail, adding that a guardian angel must have been watching over him for him to have survived.

“Four days ago, while a car sped away and blood poured from my gun shot wound, an angel trotted over and laid next to me,” he wrote.

“My panicked screams calmed as I looked at her, even though it registered that the blood pooling around her tiny body was my own.”
